Cairns cyclist Steven Rankine has taken out the opening round of  the Audi Centre Melbourne criterium series held at Port Melbourne.

Rankine took out the win from CCCC ride Chris Tymms and St Kilda local Robert Crowe. Mountain biker Mikkeli Godfree and crit speciallist Gary Mueller rounded out the top 5.

Another St Kilda local Sophie Perez took out the first women’s race for the series ahead of Critine Foster and Erica Gurner.
