Cyclingresults.net, Australia’s premier domestic cycling news and results website, will provide full coverage from the Australian junior road cycling championships held in Canberra. The championships, which occur in September from the 5th to the 7th, will show off the best of the best of Australia’s junior cyclists including Australian champions Michaela Anderson and Dale Parker.

SHAMUS Liptrot is still learning to walk but he dreams of one day getting back on his bike.
The 18-year-old South Australian cyclist suffered devastating injuries when he hit a light pole at last year’s Devonport Carnival.

Western Australia’s Freiberg now leads Tre ciclistica internazionale bresciana

Western Australia’s Michael Freiberg has taken over the leadership of the Tre ciclistica internazionale bresciana in Italy. Freiburg, 18, took the leadership from Canberra’s Matthews after he lost time on todays crucial stage. Freiberg made the days winning move which was led home by Vangi’s Roberto Bertucelli.

The Australian Junior Track team has landed in Adelaide for their second track camp before they head off to South Africa for the World Championships next month. The team, headed by World silver medalist Sarah Kent and junior world champion Tom Palmer, have been in deep training mode and will soon be joined by the Australian road team tomorrow.

The Budget Forklifts Cycling Team, coached by Western Australian Rick Lee, have landed in America after a long haul flight from Australia.
The team, which is made up from star riders from all over the country, will tackle America’s best races in a bid to gain international experience and results.
Led by Australian champions such as Michaela Anderson and Pete Johnston, the team will race on both the road and track over the next few months.

As one of Australia’s most successful junior riders ever, Cameron Meyer has been touted by many as Australia’s first Tour de France champion.
The talented 19 year old Western Australian has an impressive record which would make any pro rider jealous. 20+ State championships, 12 Australian championships, 3 World championships and a World Cup win are just some of his major victories.
We caught up with Cam just after he added another victory, the Tour of Tasmania.

CR: How does it feel finally taking an overall victory in the Timbercorp cup?

Well well well, what a year for me, for Australian cycling and cycling sport in general.
Whilst perhaps it would seem cycling has been bashed beyond return, with some of the recent doping admissions, teams and races folding due to sponsorship withdrawal, controversies in the worlds largest bike races, tainted victors and more positive tests.
However from this shadow we still see the biggest crowds at the Grand depart in London, we see a hero emerge in our very own Cadel Evans, we see a new generation of young, particularly strong, fresh and very talented cyclists emerge onto the scene to bring the sport from disrepute and into the international domain, and we see Australia once again continuing to impress…

Over 110 students from the Western Region made their way to Victoria Park, chilly Ballarat for the 7th of the VSCC Zone Finals. Although it was extremely windy and cold day, all students competed at such a high level, even with the rough conditions. The Ballarat & Sebastopol Cycling Club put on a fantastic day, with many officials and supporters of the club coming down to host the event.

A beautiful day of weather greeted the junior riders at the Stromlo Forest Park for the Australian Junior Criterium Championships.
Riders were all feeling the heat and the fatigue after two hard days of racing around the outer Canberra area.
Jessica Allen and Jackson Law were both looking to make it three from three for nationals, further proving that they are the strongest at this year’s championships and stars of the future.
Crashes marred the U17 championships on the technical course, with only the strongest and technically minded coming out on top.

Jessica Allen has proven to be one of the most dominant riders of the championships to date by taking out the women’s U15 22km road race. Allen came in solo onto the Stromlo Park criterium course, 44 seconds ahead of Natalie East (3rd in the ITT) and Emily Roper.
Jackson Law also proved to be very strong this weekend by taking out his second title, the 34km road race. Law used his incredible sprinting skills to easily win the sprint of 18 riders.
